Introducing the convergence series, our toughest rim design yet. Diverging from a typical rim shape, Convergence technology features a sinuous profile meticulously crafted to optimize the bracing angle of spokes as they enter the rim.
With data driven improvements, Convergence rims are stronger and more damped than anything we have created in the past. This means that when you choose a rim with Convergence technology you are getting a rim that will stay true longer, need less maintenance over time and provide a smooth yet responsive ride feel.
Convergence rims are available in three widths, allowing you to dial in your tire profile and fine tune your ride feel.
Performance Refined
Convergence rims offer a data-backed increase in vertical compliance allowing the wheel to absorb bumps, vibrations and impacts from the terrain - enhancing stability and control in challenging riding conditions.
Convergence uses a sinuous profile at an alternating 7.5 degree angle which perfectly aligns the nipple bed with the hub flange, creating a linear spoke line. This allows for a 360 degree contact point between the nipple and rim bed.
The undulating profile is not just about aesthetics; the design aligns the inner wall of the rim with the spoke bracing angle so that the nipple sits flatter against the rim, significantly reducing stress on both nipples and spokes. As a wheel loses tension, the stress on the rim and spokes increases, leading to failure under load as well as a reduction in ride quality. Improved spoke alignments provide an exeptional ability to maintain tension, ensuring durability and a consistently reliable ride.
Due to the more complex profile, different molds were needed and we completely redesigned our layups for each Convergence rim from the ground up, optimizing all possible orientations, angles and processes.
The Convergence's external shape drives the internal profile. With 7.5° alternating faces, when drilled, it gives the nipple the perfect perpendicular angle with no point loading. This feature improves fatigue on the nipples and spokes, providing unrivaled durability and prolonged service intervals.
Game Changing Materials
The Convergence rim layup strategically incorporates ZRT fibre technology from Boston Materials to reinforce key areas, fortifying the spoke bed strength and preventing pull-out during high-stress situations. ZRT, or Z-Axis Fibre, is a carbon fibre film vertically aligned with an impressive 13 billion fibres per square meter.
Widely trusted in military and aerospace applications, ZRT excels in dissipating mechanical energy and is known to greatly improve vibration dampening. Crafted entirely from reclaimed carbon fibre, ZRT delivers a high performance product with the smallest carbon footprint possible.
Data-Driven Design
Drawing on all of our data from Union 29 and Union 27.5 rims, we built a new test protocol and focused on single-wall impact failures. Convergence is an entirely new rim technology that adds strength and durability and increased vertical compliance while maintaining horizontal stiffness. This means you can ride harder, for longer with more comfort, knowing that your rim will stay true and require little to no maintenance.
Word on the street
"The best thing I can say about Convergence wheels is that I'm going to avoid taking them off my bike until I absolutely have to. Their top-notch performance and build quality makes for an excellent component choice on a high end bike."
